I remember...

I remember...

  • The water color
  • Pond smelly
  • Catching a buttload of fish
  • The sound of bikes behind me
  • no as much trash
  • no fishing sign thrown into the water
  • riding my bike there
  • Now the water is dirty
  • lots of trash
  • black smelly dirt
  • drive there now
  • better fishing pole now
  • less fish
I don't remember...
  • when i started going
  • when the water changed
  • when the fish left
  • the last time i rode my bike there
  • the last time i caught something

Short story reflection

A rattan chair with a decorator pillow stood at the foot of the bed.
The buffed aluminum kitchen set took up a part of the driveway. A yellow muslin cloth,
much too large, a gift, covered the table and hung down over the sides. A potted fern was
on the table, and a few feet away from this stood a sofa and chair and a floor lamp.

1.What kind of details does Carver choose to describe the “place?”

He talks about cartons everywhere and everything else is in the yard.
2.What do the following passages tell you about the place?

It was getting dark because the lights were turning on and she could see a star.
3. Now look at the passages that you chose. How do they talk about the place? Why are they important or unimportant? "Those people over there, they're watching," she said.
"It's okay," the man said. "It's my place," he said.
"Let them watch," the girl said.
"That's right," the man said. "They thought they'd seen everything over here. But
They haven't seen this, have they?"

The neighbors don’t like him living there and watch him.

The old guy give it to us.
and all these crappy records. Will you look at this shit?"

It sounds like they didn’t like being there and they just bought his stuff cheap.

Evaluation Criteria

Evaluation Criteria: Group Movie Project

Describe your role in the production of the class movie. How did your contribution make things more efficient? How did you help make the movie better? What specific contributions did you make? Did you go above and beyond, or simply show up? Be honest.
The roles I had in the production of the class movie were boom mic mo, extra, extra and editor. I worked the boom for the first day of filming. The second day of filming I was a "wigger" extra and was in the classroom and hallway scene. The third day of filming i was the script supervisor for the lunch scene and the after school scene. I was another normal extra in the background of the after school scene.

Describe one or more things you learned about the writing process that you did not know before working on this project.
I learned that the best way we got idea was to just come up with as many ideas we could individually and then as a class expand on those ideas until we finally found one that we liked and that we would be able to make. From that idea we would ask questions like "then what would happen?" and we would get different of ideas from people on what to do next and we would pick the one we all liked best. Once we finished with the ideas we made a script that followed the plot and told them what to say.

Describe one or more things you learned about the production (filming) process that you did not know before working on this project.
I learned about the camera and like how we used the DSLR to film the entire thing and it all looks clear when it is focused in. I also learned about things like the boom mic and the audio recorder that the boom plugs into. The slider was one thing i had never heard of until the project. I thought the only ones you could use were the giant major motion picture ones not just little ones like we have. I learned a little more about making movies and the filming part.

Describe one or more things you learned about the post-production (editing, sound, etc.) process that you did not know before working on this project.
I didn't learn too much from the editing part because i think i learned a lot last year about the editing and sound last year. I just used the things we learned last year to cut all the videos together.

Are you satisfied with the final product? Why or why not? Be honest.
I am satisfied i think we did a good job at filming and the idea ended up working great. I didn't like idea at first but after we filmed for a few days i really liked it. I think all of the different edited sections fit together great and look like one person edited it all.

Suggest one improvement for next year’s class. What could I do to make it easier/better/more informative/more fun?
Start filmng the first day and get things done instead of wasting the entire first day.
