Big Idea #2

What do memories mean to people? They mean different things depending on how important they were. Every memory is different.

What is a good memory? A good memory would be of a person they miss or something fun that happened.

What does a memory tell someone? They tell someone about how they used to be. If they change and don't remember how to be normal again.

Does everyone have one? Everybody has many memories but they lose them overtime.

Do old people have memories? They do but they have a worse memory and forget stuff easier than young people.

Where do memories occur? They occur everywhere

When do people first get memories? They start having memories when they are younger and forget the stuff when they are very young.

Why do people have memories? People don't choose to have them they just do.

For my video I was thinking of making a video from the future. I want to make a video of me talking while I'm in my late 40's describing myself doing his memories from when he was 18-2something. I want to show myself acting out my memories. In th future i am a car engineer/race and decsribing how i got there.

The BIg Idea

A.  Big Idea- Memories
Potential topics- Past, good times, memories from the future, the present is the past in the future, bad times, fun I had a long time ago, being young, growing open.

B. -       What do memories mean to people? They mean different things depending on how important they were. Every memory is different.

Memories are about the past
Memories are about fun you had
Memories are about good times
Memories are about bad times
Memories are about things that scared you
Memories are about things you laughed at
Memories are about times you got hurt
Memories are about when you met new people
Memories are about remembering
Memories are about looking back on good decisions

Intervention rubric

- In your own words, what is intervention?
An intervention is something out of the ordinary, something that makes people stop what they are doing, think, and maybe change their mood.

- What was the purpose of this exercise?
I think the purpose of this exercise was to be able to film in public and do things with ordinary people watching.

- Why did you choose to intervene the way you did? I’m looking for more than “I thought it would be funny” or “no one would expect it.”  What social/personal/human issue did you intend to comment on? Why? How?
I couldn’t get a reaction out of my other ideas so i picked camo. I dressed up in camo and stood outside of target where i'm clearly visible as a joke. I am easy to see even though in the woods its hard to see.

- Why did you choose the location? I’m looking for more thought than “lots of people would be there, so I went there.” How did the location play up your specific idea?
It didn't need a specific location, i could have done it anywhere. this was a bad time to film a reaction video because of the smaller amount of people who go outside in the winter. I needed people to see me.

- Name three specific examples, ideas, artworks or statements you observed in class that helped you plan for this project.
The improv everywhere video helped me shape my basic idea. I liked listening to other peoples ideas. I also think the pothole planter guy made me want to make a video that made people happy, i didnt tho.

Artist Statement:
What if you walked right by someone and you couldn’t see them because they were invisible? What if you walked by someone with camo who thought they were invisible? When someone puts camo on in the woods they think they are blending in. When they wear it out in public like a city center they are even easier to see than normal.
When someone wears camo in public you can see them from far away. It completely defeats the purpose of wearing the camo the instant you get out of your car. When I see someone wearing camo I feel like I know their personality, which is not a good personality. If they wanted to blend in they could have just wore and urban styled camouflage.
The intervention I did was about this concept. I dressed in all camo covered my face and stood in a place where I was clearly visible. I stood in front of target and acted like I was invisible. When people walked by they could see me but they still didn't talk to me or ask what I was doing. I could see through the vent holes in the hat and see the expressions on their faces. Some people didn't look trying not to turn their head and looking awkward, others walked big sweeping paths around me.
