Protagonist vs. Antagonist Brainstorm Writing

Copy and paste this onto your blog. (command C, command V)

You will write details about six characters; three antagonists, three protagonists.

Begin with one character, a protagonist. Write down their name. Write their current desires and motivations in life. Write down their childhood/backstory. These are the most important pieces.

Now write down their physical description, physical quirks, personality flaws. This is secondary to the motivation and backstory. It’s the icing on the cake, and it’s still important.

Now write that character’s nemesis using the exact same process (desires, backstory, physical ing onionsand personality quirks, etc). Think about why and how they are blocking the protagonist from achieving their goal. Is it malicious? Accidental?

Repeat this with two other sets of characters.

NOTE: You do not have to use all or any of these characters for your video if you don’t want to. It is an exercise to get you thinking about character building. On the other hand, this may trigger some brilliant thought that leads to a wonderful video project. You won’t know unless you put your heart and head into it.

EXAMPLE:

Protagonist: Nelson Frizell loves football. He is 18 years old. He grew up in a very athletic family with two older brothers who were both varsity football and basketball players. Nelson loves to play sports also but isn't very good. He actually is the worst out o all of his friends. They always play backyard football and he always guards Neil Brunn. The thing about Neil Brunn is that he is the worst person on the other team. Nelson and Neil always compete to see who is the worst overall but it usually doesn't matter because they both suck.

Antagonist:
Neil Brunn grew up the opposite of Nelson. He is 17 and was raised by his over protective mom and dad. He has no siblings to teach him sports. His mom doesn't want him playing football but in 9th grade he was asked by some kids if he wanted to play, they never knew he had never played before. He doesn't hate Nelson he just doesn't want to be the worst player. He tries as hard as he can every game to be better than Nelson and sometimes he is but sometimes nelson is better. They go through many struggles trying to better better than the other.

Protagonist:

Paul Lee is a 24 year old high school drop out living in his basement. all he does all day is play wii and watch breaking bad. He only leaves the basement at night to get food from the fridge for the long nights of wii and the next day ahead of him. He had big plans for college but instead he decided to stay home and work. He worked at a Mcdonald's all summer of his senior year but got fired before college would have started. Instead of finding another job he just spends his time underground.
Antagonist:
Tina Lee Paul's mom is always mean to him. She always asks him to clean the basement a little bit or go outside and get some exercise. Although she is not being mean and asking him nicely he just talks about how mean she is. She wants him to get another job and start working and get a girlfriend but he just says shes mean and nagging.

Protagonist: The trash man doesn't like recycling. he has never recycled in his life and he helps other people throw theirs away. One day while throwing someone's trash away he sees someone. He doesn't know who they are.

Antagonist: The recycler is who he sees, a masked man or woman (he can't tell behind the mask) and he lives to recycle. He runs around while people are at work fighting crime and digging through there trash to find recyclables. He is very radical and already knows about the trashman. He has been digging through the trash on the trashman's route taking all the recyclables and making less stuff for the trashman to pick up.
